Good for children - The Great Alaskan Race review by PB

Spoiler Alert
19/02/2021

I was disappointed with this film, partly because I had watched the preview. I am sure children will be delighted with the film. I thought it was too sentimental, and I believe husky dogs are very much working dogs and would not be petted. I could be wrong, though, in my assumptions.

How to sentimentalise Alaska in one awful film. - The Great Alaskan Race review by AM

Spoiler Alert
25/03/2021

Brian Presley shows real talent in reducing an intense true story of a heroic battle against the odds to sickly sweet sentimental mush - predictable images, wooden acting, and the hope that drone shots will salvage banal photography, ill considered lighting and a soundtrack of weeping strings. Add to this a High Fliers DVD with no subtitles ( it should be illegal to omit subtitles.... many hard of hearing rely on them).

Cheaply made - The Great Alaskan Race review by DH

Spoiler Alert
29/03/2021

Some of the actors are truly awful, made me think of the generation game where the lines are pinned up in different places! How they got cast who knows!

The sad thing is that this is an amazing story which gets totally lost by thinking that showing a blizzard constantly means the viewer cannot see what the devil is going on. You cannot get the jeopardy and it turns a truly heart-warming story into meh!

Didn't care less about the lead actor or his daughter! The lead actor by the way wrote it, directed it, produced it and not only gave himself the lead role but cast his daughter too, I noticed another person with his surname in the cast list also!

Someone else could make this so much better and stronger. There is a great story here, they just didn't tell it.
