Captures the sprit of the book

This is a romance, a chick-flick - something not usually my cup of tea. But against all my expectations I enjoyed it. My wife has the book, and wondered how it could possibly be made into a film. It hasn't - the film condenses the book, but still captures its spirit. Through the eyes of a girl, growing into a woman, and her daughter it tells the story of a love affair with a man who comes and goes through time, appearing and disappearing, and throughout this their love grows stronger, even after his death. I'm not ashamed to confess that the ending brought a tear to my eye. Recommended.

Misses the mark

An interesting proposition about a Time Traveller who jumos from diferetn time periods in his own life time but not having control of when and where he jumps.
Rachel McAdams is wonderful and is realistic in all her different age periods
Sadly it just misses the mark-a good Sunday afternoon movie but plot is forgotten by tea time

Good Solid Romance With a Twist

Not having read the book I can only comment on the adaptation itself. The Time Travellers Wife is an original and enchanting tale of love across the ages. Whereas Benjamin Button locked the two lovers in a contrasting struggle against the clock, Eric Bana and Rachel McAdams try to overcome odds and make the most of their brief moments together. A touching experience, the ending offers little closure and I’m left asking why or how does this time travel ability exist? And why leave his clothes behind? It seems like a major plot point for something so trivial however it shouldn’t detract from a moving romantic experience.
