Synopsis:
As life crumbles around her, the sole detective in a small Pennsylvania town investigates the murder of a teen in this riveting, suspenseful HBO original limited series. Oscar and Emmy winner Kate Winslet has created an iconic character in Detective Mare Sheehan, a worn-down, brutally honest, beer-swilling local basketball legend who must cope with the loss of her son while dealing with her nosy mother, rebellious teenage daughter and grandson at home, and an ex-husband who lives a stone's throw away with his new fiancee.
Just as the case of a missing young girl has grown cold, the murder of a teen adds immense pressure on Mare to find the killer in a town where everyone is a potential suspect.

Great murder mystery ! - Mare of Easttown review by CS

Spoiler Alert
12/10/2021

Never seen Kate Winslet like this and so refreshing as she fits the part perfectly. Complex murder mystery so don't trot off for a cup of tea

whilst running or you will miss the good bits. Need your wits about you too remembering lots of in depth family problems and the murder plot with suspects, which are many. Intricate, with lots of twist and turns which add suspense. Thoroughly enjoying this and can't wait for the second disc to arrive for the conclusion. Praying a Season 2 is in the pipeline !

Excellent thriller - Mare of Easttown review by PC

This is really the kind of series that bingeing was made for, the central mystery may not be the most original but the characters are truly fleshed out. Kate Winslett is wonderful and is totally believable as the cop with the whole of world's woes on her shoulders. It is also quite funny in parts, particularly in her scenes with her Mother. It may stretch credibility by the end but you are totally absorbed by that time that you really don't mind.

No 'mare. - Mare of Easttown review by JJ

Spoiler Alert

Good enough to cannonball through in a day. Winslet's character - who is in practically every scene - changes convincingly enough as the drama progresses to keep us watching as the not massively surprising twists and turns of the plot play out. If they do season 2 I'd give it a go.
