In 18th century Edinburgh, Gray (Karloff) works as a grave robber, supplying the macabre Dr MacFarlane with bodies. Blackmailed by Joseph (Lugosi), a fellow employee of MacFarlane, Gray murders him in a panic, and then attempts to supply MacFarlane with the corpse. Produced by thriller meister Val Lewton.
