Rent Lucky Number Slevin (2006)

A case of mistaken identity lands Slevin (Josh Hartnett) in the middle of a war being plotted by two of the city's most infamous crime bosses: The Rabbi (Ben Kingsley) and The Boss (Morgan Freeman). Slevin is under constant surveillance by relentless Detective Brikowski (Stanley Tucci) as well as the infamous assassin Goodkat (Bruce Willis) and finds himself having to hatch his own ingenious plot to get them before they get him.

Stylish action movie

Great story with interesting plot. Bruce Willis does what he's best at these days, playing an expressionless hit man lacking any kind of emotion to perfection. Hartnett steps up to his role, bringing youth and energy. Kingsley is one of my favourite actors but it is difficult to ignore his appallingly hammy New York accent, although his performance is otherwise good. Freeman is just a bit too 'nice' to be believable as a major crime boss. However, the film is still engaging and entertaining. The violence is a bit shocking in places, but to be expected in a film about crime and hit men! A brilliant twist to look forward to at the end.

Film slowly moves through a brief period in the life of 'lucky' Slevin who is fortunate to be dragged into the world of two powerful gangsters. However nothing is ever quite what it seems and the movie reveals all in the end. Well worth watching.
