- Simon (Jason Bateman) and Robyn (Rebecca Hall) are a married couple whose life is going as planned until an encounter with an acquaintance from Simon's past sends their world into a harrowing tailspin. Simon doesn't recognise Gordo (Joel Edgerton) at first, but after a series of uninvited encounters and mysterious gifts prove troubling, a horrifying secret from the past is uncovered.

Surprisingly good - The Gift review by BE
A gripping, insidious movie that builds tension throughout. It would be good to have a sequel to see if past sins can be atoned for. Only thing, why did Joel Edgerton have to sport such a bad 'syrup' and why wear a wig at all?!

Excellent taut + gripping thriller about bullying and power - The Gift review by PV
This is a gripping thriller, superior to the usual Hollywood fare.
OK, so it starts with a coincidence and the bullying pity party is laid on a bit too think really, as is the wife's 'issues'. Also, a subplot with a competitor for a job does not really wash, and I kept on asking myself why the characters didn't do this or that to address the issue.
Anyhoo...this is a really watchable thriller that'll make you jump.
Like the best thrillers, it preys one of our greatest fears: that we never really know anyone - not really.
A genuinely surprising and brave ending too (though no doubt feminists will be outraged).
4/5 stars.

Hadnt realised I had already seen this Movie on TV .
I didnt know the title of the film I saw at the time catching it half way through.But it is a very Good Thriller in the same kind of mold as Fatal Attraction,Single White Female or any other 'Stranger gets to know you to Fu@k your life up' kind of film.
Slow moving but unusual in that the Stalker / Baddie is giving very welcome and useful Gifts but all the time undermining the lives of a young couple in a new home.
Well worth a watch or even several .
