Cowboys and Aliens review by CS
Same old Spielberg re-hash

I had really been looking forward to seeing this film, but was sadly very disappointed! It seems that Steven Spielbergs name is used nowadays to sell films, but the film itself is not actually directed by him. There is nothing new here at all, it is the same old aliens come to earth and the Americans fight them off to save another day routine, only this time set in the old wild west of America! The aliens look curiously similar to those in 'Super 8' and 'War of the Worlds' both of which had Spielbergs name on them also! So i am getting the impression that his team are running out of ideas and simply re-hashing the same old themes. The acting was ok, in an average, we're just going through the routine, kind of way, the script and direction very average, in fact I found it all a bit dull as it had all been done before. An ok family movie for a Saturday night in with the kids, very similar in many ways to the old Indiana Jones style of film, so more of a family movie than anything else. Personally I was a bit bored by the end and left feeling very disappointed in it all!!
