Evelyn Salt kicks serious butt
- Salt review by PT
100 minutes of pure escapism. Angelina Jolie is terrific as Evelyn Salt in this non stop action thriller. The pace is relentless as Salt is pursued by the CIA. Jolie is a trained killing machine, expert in hand combat, weaponary, escapism and evasion.
Angelina is totally believable as one super cool, ruthless and aggressive lady.
Great stunts and cinematography too. Interesting that Jolie does the stunts herself (EXTRAS). Loved it.

A Pinch of Salt

Slick, sturdy fun, but my brain kept wandering back to Phillip Noyce’s nineties heyday — Patriot Games, Clear and Present Danger, and those glossy Harrison Ford thrillers that felt like the genre benchmark. Salt feels cut from the same cloth: propulsive, polished, and efficiently made.
Jolie commits fully and carries the film with ease. The sleeper-spy premise keeps things moving, even if the twists feel a bit mechanical once they’ve clicked into place.
The problem is timing. By 2010, spy cinema had become grittier, messier, and more interested in the moral cost of the job. Salt isn’t exactly behind the curve; it just belongs to an earlier one.
A perfectly decent Friday night thriller. Just don’t expect le Carré with a stunt budget.

A pinch of Salt adds to the spice of life!

Very enjoyable film to watch, right up there with Inception with regards to an unusual storyline. It had me at the edge of my seat for the duration of the film as I was willing Evelyne to come through. Loved it!

Mediocre & overhyped

This film is ok and watchable, however, just something about it lacks the edge that this type of film should have. I am not sure that Angelina is believable as this type of character. A bit disappointing considering all the good reviews it has had. As I said, it is watchable just don't expect to be blown away.

Mediocre Action thriller

As others have said "over hyped" I would agree I waited a long time for this film to be delivered and expected a lot more of it. Angelina looks fabulous as always. The cold war left over plot is old hat now. Nice little twist towards the end. A watchable film generally with the typical big budget hollywood stunts but there is just something missing, maybe a touch of ironic humour (al a Bond).
Switch off and enjoy.

It is a bit like rubbing Salt in the wound, painful to watch!

What is this? It's trying to be an action political thriller along the lines of 'Enemy of the State', but is really just a yawn inspiring US verses good ole Russia yarn, with no teeth. This film clearly thinks that it has depth, and is trying to be politically complex, but I was just left thinking what is going on. Confusing but nit in a deep way, very shallow and insipid. The end is, well this is one of those films that does not have an end, so they can make a follow on, you know what I mean! I found this quite boring to be honest and a big disappointment.
