Myeong-ja is the daughter of a concubine who lost her husband to his legal wife. In order to make money she starts working as a bar hostess where she meets Dong-shik, an impotent and unhappily married man. He overcomes his impotency with Myeong-ja and with the help of the bar madam rapes her. Myeong-ja oddly enough asks him to take her in as a mistress. Soon-jo, his legal wife allows this to happen in the hopes that she will cure his impotency even with her. She supports their life financially under the condition that he spends only half the day with Myeong-ja from Noon to midnight. At first this arrangement seems to be working, but as time goes on we begin to see that neither one of the women and willing to compromise their possession of Dong-shik.
